Part-time | 16-20 hours per week | Flexible working pattern
This is an on-site role. Please apply by email with your CV and a short cover note telling us a little about yourself, your relevant experience, and why you think you'd be a good fit for the role.
The Accountant Lady is a small, friendly accountancy practice, and we're looking for a Bookkeeping & Admin Assistant to join us initially on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave. However, there is an opportunity for the role to continue beyond the maternity cover for the right person, depending on the needs of the practice at that time.
The role is primarily focused on bookkeeping for our clients, with some general administrative work alongside it.
We're looking for someone who is organised, trustworthy and is comfortable getting on with their work independently. The role will initially involve working alongside us, with the potential to include some home-based working once you're settled into the systems and processes.
What you'll be doing
Your main responsibility will be keeping client bookkeeping accurate and up to date. This will include:
-
Processing invoices and receipts using various software
-
Bookkeeping in Xero & QuickBooks
-
Bank reconciliations
-
Reconciling payment platforms
-
Keeping client bookkeeping records organised and up to date
-
Assisting with client onboarding processes
-
General administrative tasks
What we're looking for
You'll ideally have some previous bookkeeping or accounts experience. Experience working in an accountancy practice would be useful, but isn't essential.
We're looking for someone who:
-
Has good common sense and is able to use their initiative
-
Is trustworthy and reliable
-
Can work independently without constant supervision
-
Has excellent attention to detail
-
Is organised and able to manage their own workload
-
Is comfortable working with computers and learning new software
-
Takes pride in getting things right and is comfortable asking questions when unsure
Experience & Qualifications
-
Previous bookkeeping or accounts experience is preferred but not essential
-
AAT or similar bookkeeping qualification is desirable
-
Experience with Xero or QuickBooks would be a strong advantage
-
Training will be provided on our systems and processes
Hours & working pattern
The role is 16-20 hours per week, with the exact working pattern to be agreed with the successful candidate. We're flexible about how these hours are arranged and could be spread across 3, 4 or 5 days a week.
There may also be opportunities to work additional hours during particularly busy periods, by agreement.
Initially, you'll work alongside us so that you can learn our systems and processes. Once you're established and confident in the role, there is potential for some home-based working, so you need to be comfortable managing your own workload independently.
